Asheville Chosen as HGTV's Urban Oasis 2015 Location!

The wait is over! HGTV has chosen Asheville, North Carolina, as the location of its sixth-annual HGTV Urban Oasis. The home will be conveniently located near nationally-acclaimed restaurants, local breweries, and quaint shops, and a short driving distance from the Great Smoky Mountains.

This year we’re doing it a little different. We’ve chosen a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1,300-square-foot bungalow to be the perfect spot for this exciting renovation. That’s right, you’ll be able to follow the flip!

The 1,300-square-foot bungalow is a haven of relaxed charm in the heart of Asheville, NC.

The house appears to be located on Russell Street in West Asheville. HGTV's website hails it as a "haven of relaxed charm in the heart of Asheville."

The project is called HGTV Urban Oasis. Every year since 2010, the network has completed the project in a different city. Asheville is by far the smallest location. Other sites include New York, Chicago, Miami, Boston and Miami.

The network announced its choice with a short promotional video highlighting Asheville as a destination for the outdoors, food and beer. It will chronicle the renovation of the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home on its blog. A companion page on the Travel Channel's website provides additional details about Asheville.

The Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau provided the network with footage of the city to use in the video. "We were thrilled that Asheville was selected and glad to offer up beautiful footage to ensure the sweepstakes and story elements were filled with colorful imagery of our beautiful mountain city," Dodie Stephens, director of communications at the Asheville CVB, said in an email. "Whenever we can support media on something with this level of national exposure, it extends the CVB's marketing efforts and shines a light on Asheville as a vibrant and hip place worth exploring."
