After four decades as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley and other top Wall Street firms, I retired in early 2025—only to realize my desire to work with clients and to meet new people was as strong as ever. When my daughter, Nan Lively, a seasoned broker at Town and Mountain Realty, invited me to partner with her, it opened an exciting new road.

I’m a West Virginian by birth with the mountains in my blood. For over 30 years, every trip from Charlotte to Asheville ended with a reluctant drive home—until 14 years ago, when my wife Nancy and I moved to Asheville’s Grove Park neighborhood. We also have deep roots in Henderson County, where my parents lived for many years, and Yancey County, where we have painstakingly restored a 1870s farmhouse.

By combining my financial background with Nan’s deep real estate expertise, we offer a unique, multi-generational perspective on the Western North Carolina market.
