Jim Hester was born and raised in Winston Salem NC. He started coming to Asheville as a young boy for summer vacations and fell in love with the WNC mountain’s. Jim graduated from Western Carolina University. While at the university he made many life-long friendships including his wife Coleen and Mike Miller, owner of Town and Mountain Real Estate.

Jim and Coleen got married and purchased their first home in Stokes County NC which is a 150 year old log cabin. The birth of two beautiful girls soon followed, Myra and Claire. Claire lives and works in Asheville, NC and Myra lives and works in San Francisco California with her new husband Alex Hooker.

Jim pursued a career in management with RJR Nabisco in Winston Salem and then with Scientific Instruments in Palm Beach County, Florida. After taking early retirement and returning to the mountains of WNC, he obtained a broker’s license in real estate with Mike Miller’s encouragement.

Jim then pursued a real estate career in Lake Lure NC and maintains a residence there. He continues to write a monthly article about WNC real estate for the Mountain Breeze newspaper. Jim and Coleen built their dream home in Asheville NC last year.

Now that he is living in Asheville, Jim is excited to continue his career with Town and Mountain Realty.  Jim has a variety of experiences in real estate including, new home construction, renovations, land purchase, vacation home property and second home purchases in resort and luxury developments.
