Do you enjoy beer or the brewery scene? You’re in the right place. Downtown Asheville's South Slope district boasts more than ten breweries as well as craft cider, sake, and a distillery—all within a few blocks of each other. Tons of delicious restaurant choices and artsy galleries are also helping to revitalize the downtown scene. With gyms, parks, yoga studios, rooftop bars, and more right outside your modern South Asheville home, what more could you possibly need?
Asheville’s legacy largely revolves around two beloved attractions: the Pisgah National Forest and the South Slope Brewing District, home to some of the best breweries in the country, including:
Chemist Spirits at 151 Coxe Avenue is a female and family-owned spirits distillery in South Slope named after chemists during the Prohibition Era who turned contraband bars into “happy-hour science labs.” You can request to take a tour of the distillery itself and try samples in the tasting room; two of our favorites are the citrus-forward American Classic Gin or the Eau De Vie—a smooth, crisp un-aged apple brandy. You can also enjoy their superior craft spirits at the Antidote next door where you can hang out in a cocktail lounge that resembles a 1920s apothecary with an art-deco flair!
