ASHEVILLE -- Wanda Jackson, a 75-year-old rockabilly pioneer, is one of the top acts scheduled to play at Bele Chere in July, according to the music website Pollstar.com.
Other acts set to play include Randall Bramblett, Mountain Heart, Rory Kelly's Triple Threat, Johnathan Scales Fourchestra and Yo Mamma's Big Fat Booty Band, according to the website.
Bele Chere is the city-produced summer street party that draws tens of thousands of visitors to the heart of downtown on the last full weekend of July. The future of the festival is in doubt after City Council members announced earlier this year that they'd reached an unofficial consensus to stop producing the event.
