4/30/2013 - Carriage rides begin around downtown
by Jason Sandford - Asheville Citizen Times

ASHEVILLE -- There's a new star performer on the streets of Asheville, and his name is Silver.

His full name is Silver Lining, and he's a 15-year-old Percheron who stands 18 hands tall. His 2,000-pound body is literally providing the horse power behind the city's latest tourist attraction, Asheville Horse and Carriage Tours. Catherine Hunter, who lives on a Canton farm with Silver and a handful of other horses, owns the business.

Hunter rolled out her horse and carriage Friday night. She has a carriage stand at Pritchard Park, and her roughly 20-minute tours take riders through the heart of downtown past some of the city's most well-known architectural landmarks and beloved businesses.
