"Hairspray" today-Oct. 14, Asheville Community Theatre, 35 E. Walnut St. Jerry Crouch directs this big musical comedy about a teen girl who dreams of dancing on an "American Bandstand" like TV show. Performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday. 254-1320.

"The Trip To Bountiful," today-Sunday, Hendersonville Little Theatre, 229 S. Washington St., Hendersonville. The story of Carrie Watts, an aging widow living with her son and daughter-in-law in a three-room flat in Houston. 692-1082.

"Almost, Maine," today-Sunday, Flat Rock Playhouse, 2661 Greenville Hwy., Flat Rock. All is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine.
