by Jason Sandford - Ashvegas

Work has begun on a project to rehab several old buildings at the corner of Eagle and Market streets in downtown Asheville. The project, which will also include new construction, is a joint effort between Mountain Housing Opportunities and Eagle-Markets Streets Development Corp.

This is an important milestone. Plans have been floated for years for some project that would rejuvenate this area, known as The Block, once a thriving hub of African-American businesses. It's great to see work actually being done there.
