Asheville is a food-centric town, and increasingly the focus on food is paying off.
The Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau works to draw tourism through our food scene, branding the city and its food events, tailgate markets and independent restaurants the "Foodtopian Society," and "Foodtopia," both trademarked terms.
"The surprising piece that consumers are finding is that we are, authentically, a great food destination," said Marla Tambellini of the CVB. Lately, the CVB and the food community it supports have had to look at a relatively new phenomenon: what to do when the marketing proves successful.
