4/29/2008 - Asheville's Twin Rivers Media Festival
ASHEVILLE Expect a lot of entries from Western North Carolina filmmakers in the 14th annual Twin Rivers Media Festival Friday-May 4. The film and audio festival will be held at the Courtyard Gallery, 9 Walnut St., downtown Asheville.
This is the third year that the festival (www.twinriversmediafestival.com) has been held in Asheville. Entries include animation, feature films, documentaries, short drama and audio art. There are divisions for students, non-students and distributors and special awards for outdoor subjects and films and videos made on a Macintosh computer.
Entries are from the United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Russia, Spain, Greece, Iran, Thailand, Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Japan, France, Italy, Israel, South Africa and Ireland. This years festival includes 102 world premiers, and eight North American premiers.
The festival begins at 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 1 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. May 4. On Thursday, the complete schedule will be at www.ashevillecourtyard.com.
